Continue your knitting journey with this class as you learn the current information on modern knitting pattern reading and how it effects you. We will explore the elements that make up a pattern including swatching & blocking, written & charted instructions, decision points, special effects, and nomenclature. Prerequisites to take this class are either to have taken a beginning knitting previously at Stitches and completed the felted tote bag or backpack OR taken another beginning class and are comfortable with the longtail cast-on, knit stitch, & binding off. You can knit! You will be making either a felted tote bag or backpack in this class with a few simple skills. The objective of this class is to get you comfortable with the knitting needles, learn the basic stitch from which all other stitches derive, and have a bag you’ll be proud to say "I made it myself!" You will also learn a few other tricks not taught in any other beginning class as your new skills unfold. Intermediate Sewing – Skirt
Hone the skills you need to sew from patterns. In this class use a pattern to cut it out and piece a garment, make darts, put in a zipper and make a hem and waistband. All while creating a fun and sassy skirt. This is an intermediate class for people who have taken the beginning sewing class or have equivalent sewing experience.
Two 2 ½ - hour sessions. Fee: $50

Seam Ripper
2" X 18" Ruler
Fabric Pen or Chalk
Tape Measure
Hand Sewing Needle
New Look Pattern 6056, 6053, 6843 or Kwik Sew 6468.
Amount of cotton, cotton blend, linen, or lightweight wool woven fabric called for on the pattern for the size and style skirt you wish to make (pre-washed before the class).
1-1/8 yards lightweight fusible interfacing if called for on pattern back.
